Life Updates

Hey everyone,

Surprisingly, I'm still alive. I've been caught up a lot in my summer activities so I haven't paid much attention at all to this blog. But now, I'm super determined to post on it!

So anyways, I think the most interesting things that have been happening to me aren't really that interesting. Lucky Harper (my friend) got to go to Rome and Tuscany at the beginning of the summer. But I'm also lucky! I think I might be going on a little vacation to an island up north for a week. I would have to take a ferry to get to the island, so there can't be any cars on the island. Most people use bikes for transportation! How cool is that? Anyway, I'm very excited. Can't wait to share it with you all! <3

Much love,
Em

Walking the Dogs

Hello everyone!

Spring has finally started to show itself here. I woke up bright and early this morning to the melodic sound of birds chirping. Once I ate breakfast I decided that I had to go outside. My dog Pepper needed his morning walk, so I decided to take all of the dogs out for a nice long walk.
We have a lot of dogs in the house. Sometimes they can be difficult to tame, but I always have a great time playing with them and taking them on walks. We have four dogs altogether.

The first one is Pepper, who is my dog. He is so adorable and has the most vibrant blue eyes. He's really obedient but can be mischievous sometimes.

This is Anna's dog Sugar. Sugar is so sweet (no pun intended!). She is so soft and is really playful.

Harper's dog is named Meatloaf. He is the cutest bulldog I have ever seen, even though he's really mischievous. He is always full of energy and is very vibrant.

The last dog we have is Sprocket who is Nicki's dog. He is one of the most faithful dogs I've ever met. He is really good at sensing Nicki's emotions because he used to be a service dog.

I had a lot of fun outside in the nice spring weather with all of the dogs. It was great exercise for me and for the dogs. I think I might have to go out on another walk with the dogs again sometime soon.

Do you have any pets? If you do, do you like to go out on walks with them?

That's all for now!

Ice Castles!

Hello everyone!

I took a trip up north this week. The first day (well, more like night) we went to some incredible ice castles. It was so so so cold out! I was glad I had my snowsuit and my mittens.

The ice structures were all lit up with flashing lights. It looked like a fairyland. I couldn't wait to get right in and explore!

The icicles were so huge- at times, I was afraid they were going to fall right on me. They looked like stalactites or stalagmites in a cave.
And they even had lights illuminating the whole thing! This light changed from red to pink to blue and then all over again. They were also playing loud music from Frozen. It made me feel like I was Elsa in her ice castle.

It was very difficult to get pictures without a flash because it was so dark, so the only pictures that actually came out of me were with the flash.

I was so cold sitting here! I could feel my toes freezing right off along with my fingers.
Here is a photo we managed to get without a flash. I look so purple because of the light!

Overall, it was one of the coolest (no pun intended) places I have ever been. Have you ever been to ice castles? Did you go on a fun vacation recently?

Love, Emily

Hooray! It's a Snow Day!

I'm so happy that today was a snow day! I got to stay home from school all day long. At first in the morning the snow had turned into freezing rain, but it quickly changed right back into snow in the afternoon.
I spent a lot of time out in the snow. Our whole backyard was covered in snow piles as tall as me!

It's unfortunate that the freezing rain started because the snow was covered in a pretty thick layer of ice so I couldn't make any snow creatures this time.

Mostly I just sat in the snow for a while and enjoyed the fresh air while I could. Soon I got pretty cold though I was bundled up in my snow gear.

So I headed inside and put on the warmest sweatshirt I could find and made myself a nice big mug of hot chocolate with a lot of whipped cream on top.

That's pretty much how my day went! It was a lot of fun. How was your Monday? Did you have a snow day?

Love, Emily.

Seeing a Circus

Hi everybody!
Last night I went out into the city to see a circus.  I went to one of my favorite theaters of all time and we sat so close to the front! The circus we saw came all the way from China. I would really love to go to China one day; it seems spectacular. There were bright costumes, contortionists, acrobats, and at the end, everybody rode on a single bike! I think my favorite was when some acrobats jumped and flipped through really high hoops. Here's a photo of me in the theater. They wouldn't let me take photos of the performance, but that's understandable.
That's all for now!

Sisters and Christmas Dresses

Hello everybody!

I'm so sorry I have been neglecting this blog for so long. To be honest, I just forgot about it! But  am very glad that I am back!

The holidays are approaching so quickly. My mom made me dress up in my Christmas dress early. I'm just glad it's not really super pink or frilly!
Don't tell anyone, but I usually leave my heels for a pair of my warmest slippers. They make me feel a lot comfier.

I had to ask my sister Nicki how she deals with holiday dresses. She seems not to mind them at all. she's like a fashion superhero!
"Well," she said. "I absolutely adore fancy dresses. I just think that they're so pretty, and it's all for a good occasion!"

I'm slightly envious of Nicki. She has gorgeous caramel brown hair and she always seems to look great.

Well, it all really doesn't matter in the long run. All of my family is stuck in fancy dresses!

Until next time,
Emily

Visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art

Hi everybody! Today I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. It was very fun.
First we went to the Early American Art exhibit. I saw a large head with cavernous holes for eyes that was a little scary but very interesting. It was made out of rock and I wanted to climb on it, but I wasn't allowed.

Next, I saw a Chinese Buddha who was very tall and detailed. I had never been in the Asian art wing, so it was really impressive.

Also in the Asian art wing, I saw a whole wall filled with mini bottles, perfect for my size! This one was my favorite: it had a jade fish on it.

Next, we went to an outdoor garden that had a waterfall and pond in it, right in the museum! Here I am, posing near the water.

Luckily there was a rope so I couldn't tumble in. The fish in the water reminded me of the fish on the bottle I had seen earlier.

Last, we went to the Egyptian wing. The Egyptian wing has always been my favorite wing in the whole museum. It's usually very crowded and not good for pictures, but we managed to find some interesting rooms with not a lot of people. In here, there were decorative pots and beads from Egypt lining the room.

Here I am in front of a tall statue of a pharaoh, I think. I love the Egyptian statues; the faces are so expressive.

This was the last statue I posed in front of. I think it is of a god or goddess, but I'm not sure. It was in a huge room with a real Egyptian temple in it! I really wanted to take a picture with William, the museum's mascot, but it was too crowded for a good picture. After visiting the gift shop, we left the museum. I had a very nice time there.

Now, here is everything I got at the museum. I got a William postcard, a William eraser, and three New York City notebooks. I may hang the postcard in my room or add it to my postcard collection. I'm not sure yet! Maybe William the eraser can be friends with my Tokidoki figurines.

I decided to turn one of the notebooks into a scrapbook of all of my adventures! I decided to write my favorite thing about the adventure and include my entry pass.

Thanks for Reading!
